The Sabbath Day
I am not Seventh Day Adventist ( the man in the video is ) but I believe as a Born Again Christian we should still ' Observe" the sabbath as our day of rest , as its the 4 th of the 10 Commandments ( the Moral Law)
For even Jesus Obeyed the Sabbath. Read on and you will find out why?
Be open to this study ,and look with fresh eyes...pray for Jesus to guide you like He did me.
Lets discuss the 10 Commandments first
On MT Sinai God gave Moses the 10 Commandments written by His finger on a tablet of stone.
The Ten Commandments
- Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
- Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image.
- Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain.
- Remember the sabbath day and keep it holy.
- Honor thy father and thy mother.
- Thou shalt not kill.
- Thou shalt not commit adultery.
- Thou shalt not steal.
The Mosaic Law was given specifically to the nation of Israel (Exodus 19; Leviticus 26:46; Romans 9:4). It was made up of three parts: the
1.Ten Commandments,
2.The ordinances, (The word "ordinances" in Colossians 2:14 and Ephesians 2:15 does not refer to God's laws. It is translated from the Greek word dogma (requirements) and refers generally to opinions, judgments, and decrees. Such ordinances could be public decrees by government officials or religious decrees by religious officials.
3.Worship system, which included the priesthood, the tabernacle, the offerings, and the festivals.
The law of Moses, including the Ten Commandments, was "nailed to the cross" with Christ (Colossians 2:14). In times past, God spoke to Israel through the law of Moses, but now He speaks to all men through Christ (Hebrews 1:1,2). Israel is no longer God's chosen people, but those who are redeemed in Christ- the church- whether Jew or Gentile; they are His people (Ephesians 2:13-16).
The fact that the law of Moses, including the Ten Commandments, has been fulfilled by Jesus but does not mean that one can worship idols, take God's name in vain, disobey parents, steal, kill, commit adultery, or do other sinful things condemned in the Ten Commandments. In the New Covenant with Jesus rather than the 10 commandments be written on stone ,they are now written in our hearts bringing "life"as a new covenant through Christ and must be obeyed today
These laws are binding today, not because they were a part of the Old Covenant, but because they are a part of the New Testament.
Therefore, with the coming of Christ, virtually everything has changed:
1. The blood sacrifices ceased because Christ fulfilled all that they were pointing toward. He was the final, unrepeatable sacrifice for sins. Hebrews 9:12, “He entered once for all into the holy places, not by means of the blood of goats and calves but by means of his own blood, thus securing an eternal redemption.”
2. The priesthood that stood between worshiper and God has ceased. Hebrews 7:23–24, “The former priests were many in number, because they were prevented by death from continuing in office, but he holds his priesthood permanently, because he continues forever.”
3. The physical temple has ceased to be the geographic center of worship. Now, Christ himself is the center of worship. He is the “place,” the “tent,” and the “temple” where we meet God. Therefore, Christianity has no geographic center, no Mecca, no Jerusalem. John 4:21, 23, “Jesus said to her, ‘Woman, believe me, the hour is coming when neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father. . . . But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth.’” John 2:19, 21, “‘Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.’ . . . He [Jesus] was speaking about the temple of his body.” Matthew 18:20, “For where two or three are gathered in my [Jesus’s] name, there am I among them.”
4. The food laws that set Israel apart from the nations have been fulfilled and ended in Christ. Mark 7:18–19, “[Jesus] said to them, . . . ‘Do you not see that whatever goes into a person from outside cannot defile him?’ . . . (Thus he declared all foods clean.)”
5. The establishment of civil law on the basis of an ethnically rooted people, who are ruled directly by God, has ceased. The people of God are no longer a unified political body or an ethnic group or a nation-state, but are exiles and sojourners among all ethnic groups and all states. Therefore, God’s will for states is not taken directly from the Old Testament theocratic order, but should now be re-established from place to place and from time to time by means that correspond to God’s sovereign rule over all peoples, and that correspond to the fact that genuine obedience, rooted as it is in faith in Christ, cannot be coerced by law. The state is therefore grounded in God, but not expressive of God’s immediate rule. Romans 13:1, “Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.” John 18:36, “My [Jesus’s] kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, my servants would have been fighting.”
TO KEEP IT SIMPLE HERE IS A SHORT VIDEO WITH EXCELLENT POINTS
If we call ourselves followers of Jesus, should we not follow his example of keeping the Sabbath holy?
In fact the Bible promises blessings to Gentiles who do:
“And foreigners who bind themselves to the Lord to minister to him, to love the name of the Lord, and to be his servants, all who keep the Sabbath without desecrating it and who hold fast to my covenant—these I will bring to my holy mountain and give them joy in my house of prayer.” Isaiah 56:6-7
No 4 of the 10 commandments
“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labour and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.

Old Testament Scripture supporting the Sabbath Day
After working the first six days of the week in creating this earth, God rested on the seventh day. Genesis 2:1-3
This stamped that day as God's rest day, or Sabbath day, as Sabbath day means rest day. To illustrate: When a person is born on a certain day, that day thus becomes his birthday. So when God rested upon the seventh day, that day became His rest, or Sabbath, day.
Therefore the seventh day must always be God's Sabbath day. Can you change your birthday from the day on which you were born to one on which you were not born? No. Neither can you change God's rest day to a day on which He did not rest. Hence the seventh day is still God's Sabbath day.
The Creator blessed the seventh day.
Genesis 2:3.
He sanctified the seventh day.
Exodus 20:11.
He made it the Sabbath day in the Garden of Eden.
Genesis 2:1-3.
It was made before the fall; hence it is not a type; for types were not introduced till after the fall.
It is a memorial of creation. Exodus 20:11; 31:17. Every time we rest upon the seventh day, as God did at creation, we commemorate that grand event.
It was given to Adam, the head of the human race. Genesis 2:1-3.
It is not a Jewish institution, for it was made 2,300 years before ever there was a Jew.It was declared a sabbath day of rest when Gods work was finished at creation.
The Bible never calls it the Jewish Sabbath, but always "the Sabbath of the Lord thy God." Men should be cautious how they stigmatize God's holy rest day.
Evident reference is made to the Sabbath and the seven-day week all through the patriarchal age. Genesis 2:1-3; 8:10,12; 29:27,28, etc.
It was a part of God's law before Sinai. Exodus 16:4,23-29.
Then God placed it in the heart of His moral law. Exodus 20:1-17.
Why did He place it there if it was not like the other nine precepts, which all admit to be immutable?
The seventh-day Sabbath was commanded by the voice of the living God.
Deuteronomy 4:12,13.
Then He wrote the commandment with His own finger.
Exodus 31:18.
He engraved it in the enduring stone, indicating its imperishable nature.
Deuteronomy 5:22.
It was sacredly preserved in the ark in the holy of holies.
Deuteronomy 10:1-5.
God forbade work upon the Sabbath, even in the most hurrying times.
Exodus 34:21
.
God destroyed the Israelites in the wilderness because they profaned the Sabbath.
Ezekiel 20:12,13.
It is the sign of the true God, by which we are to know Him from the false gods.
Ezekiel 20:20.
God promised that Jerusalem should stand forever if the Jews would keep the Sabbath.
Jeremiah 17:24,25.
He sent them into the Babylonian captivity for breaking it.
Nehemiah 13:18.
He destroyed Jerusalem for its violation.
Jeremiah 17:27.
God has pronounced a special blessing on all the Gentiles who will keep it.
Isaiah 56:6,7.
This is in the prophecy which refers wholly to the Christian dispensation.
See Isaiah 56.
God has promised to bless all who keep the Sabbath.
Isaiah 56:2.
The Lord requires us to call it "honorable." Isaiah 58:13
Beware, you who take delight in calling it the "old Jewish Sabbath," "a yoke of bondage," etc.
After the holy Sabbath has been trodden down "many generations," it is to be restored in the last days.
Isaiah 58:12,13.
All the holy prophets kept the seventh day.

New testament scripture supporting the Sabbath day
Jesus says it was made for man, that is, for the race, as the word man is here unlimited; hence, for the Gentile as well as for the Jew. Mark 2:27.
Not only is the Sabbath made for man, but Jesus said that He was Lord of the Sabbath.
Mark 2:28.
It was given to Adam, the head of the human race. Mark 2:27;
When the Son of God came, He kept the seventh day all His life. Luke 4:16; John 15:10.
Thus He followed His Father's example at creation. Shall we not be safe in following the example of both the Father and the Son?
Jesus was Lord of the Sabbath (Mark 2:28), that is, to love and protect it, as the husband is the lord of the wife, to love and cherish her. 1 Peter 3:6...
Jesus was Lord of the Sabbath (Mark 2:28),

The seventh day is the Lord's day. See Revelation 1:10; Mark 2:28; Isaiah 58:13; Exodus 20:10.
Jesus was Lord of the Sabbath (Mark 2:28), that is, to love and protect it, as the husband is the lord of the wife, to love and cherish her. 1 Peter 3:6.
Instead of abolishing the Sabbath, He carefully taught how it should be observed. Matthew 12:1-13.
He taught His disciples that they should do nothing upon the Sabbath day but what was "lawful." Matthew 12:12.
He instructed His apostles that the Sabbath should be prayerfully regarded forty years after His resurrection. Matthew 24:20.
Thirty years after Christ's resurrection, the Holy Spirit expressly calls it "the sabbath day." Acts 13:14.
Paul, the apostle to the Gentiles, called it the "sabbath day" in A.D. 45. Acts 13:27. Did not Paul know? Or shall we believe modern teachers, who affirm that it ceased to be the Sabbath at the resurrection of Christ?
Luke, the inspired Christian historian, writing as late as A.D. 62, calls it the "sabbath day." Acts 13:44.
The Gentile converts called it the Sabbath. Acts 13:42.
In the great Christian council, A.D. 49, in the presence of the apostles and thousands of disciples, James calls it the "sabbath day." Acts 15:21.
It was customary to hold prayer meetings upon that day. Acts 16:13.
Paul read the Scriptures in public meetings on that day. Acts 17:2,3.
It was his custom to preach upon that day. Acts 17:2,3.
The Book of Acts alone gives a record of his holding eighty-four meetings upon that day. See Acts 13:14,44; 16:13; 17:2; 18:4,11.
There was never any dispute between the true Christians and the Jews about the Sabbath day. This is proof that the Christians still observed the same day that the Jews did.
In all their accusations against Paul, they never charged him with disregarding the Sabbath day. Why did they not, if he did not keep it?
But Paul himself expressly declared that he had kept the law. "Neither against the law of the Jews, neither against the temple, nor yet against Caesar, have I offended any thing at all." Acts 25:8. How could this be true if he had not kept the Sabbath?
The Sabbath is mentioned in the New Testament fifty-nine times, and always with respect, bearing the same title it had in the Old Testament, "the sabbath day."
Not a word is said anywhere in the New Testament about the Sabbath's being abolished, done away, changed, or anything of the kind.
God has never given permission to any man to work upon it. Reader, by what authority do you use the seventh day for common labor?
No Christian of the New Testament, either before or after the resurrection, ever did ordinary work upon the seventh day. Find one case of the kind, and we will yield the question. Why should modern Christians do differently from Bible Christians?
There is no record that God has ever removed His blessing or sanctification from the seventh day?
As the Sabbath was kept in Eden before the fall, so it will be observed eternally in the new earth after the restitution. Isaiah 66:22,23.
The seventh-day Sabbath was an important part of the law of God, as it came from His own mouth, and was written by His own finger upon stone at Sinai. See Exodus 20. When Jesus began His work, He expressly declared that He had not come to destroy the law. "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets." Matthew 5:17.
Jesus severely condemned the Pharisees as hypocrites for pretending to love God, while at the same time they made void one of the Ten Commandments by their tradition. The keeping of Sunday is only a tradition of men.
Jesus was a carpenter (Mark 6:3), and worked at His trade until He was thirty years old. He kept the Sabbath and worked six days in the week, as all admit. Hence, He did many a hard day's work on Sunday.

Who changed the sabbath and why ?

What is the Biblical and historical truth on who changed the Sabbath to Sunday? Where in the Holy Bible is one legitimate scripture clearly stating the Sabbath was changed from Saturday to Sunday?
The truth on who changed the Sabbath to Sunday The following document on who changed the Sabbath to Sunday is a very comprehensive account on how the Sabbath to Sunday change occurred, which actually began as far back as 2000 years B.C. You are also about to discover the real truth on the origin of 666 and how this mysterious number is directly related to ancient sun worship. But why is sun worship so relevant in regards to the worship of God? How would you respond if I told you that sun worship was directly linked with the worship of Satan? Would this be significant? And what if this sun worship also affected the true worship of God? Many do not understand that God does in fact have a day of worship and Satan has a counterfeit day of worship and that day is the “Day of the Sun.”
Those who oppose the truth say that the Sabbath was not changed to Sunday by anyone and that it was changed from Saturday to Sunday in the Bible. Desperate to convince us of this lie, the proponents frequently say that the early Church changed to worshiping on Sunday and base this on Acts 20:7, 1 Corinthians 16:2 and amazingly even John 20:19. Acts 20:7 was in fact after sunset and so was actually a Saturday meeting that ran late and breaking bread was also a fellowship meal and was done every day of the week.
See Acts 2:46. 1 Corinthians 16:2 was laying goods away in storage for the poor which would not be appropriate on the Sabbath but the first opportunity after being the first day of the week. It becomes abundantly clear how deceived the proponents are when they even say that John 20:19 was the apostles celebrating the resurrection of Jesus on the first day of the week. But the apostles were in fact hiding in fear of the Jews and did not even believe Jesus had been resurrected. Scripture such as Mark 16:11-14 reveals Jesus in fact rebuked them for their unbelief. Celebrating the resurrection of Jesus? Not even close!
So this is the typical support from those who say the Sabbath was changed to Sunday in the Bible and yet we find these are all desperate attempts at proving a fallacy. This alone should help one see that the Sabbath was not changed to Sunday in the Bible and that another force is at work trying to convince us otherwise. Why? Obviously the Sabbath day is important or our adversary would not be so busy searching for those he can manipulate to try and convince of us of a lie.
What the proponents also cannot do is produce one single scripture that shows one single person worshipping in the Synagogue (Church) on the first day of the week which would be the case if the Sabbath was changed from Saturday to Sunday in the Bible. In fact this is all you would find in the book of Acts if this were so. But instead all we have is loads of scriptures showing in fact that they only worshipped in the Synagogue on the Sabbath and never the first day of the week. Here are just a few examples and unlike those trying to prove a fallacy, you will note that these scriptures are not assumptions: Mark 6:2, Mark 1:21, Luke 4:16, Luke 6:6, Luke 13:10, Acts 13:14, Acts 13:27, Acts 13:42, 44, Acts 15:21, Acts 17:1-2 and Acts 18:4. See also the sister site what day is the Sabbath for much more detailed information on all the above points that proves the Sabbath was not Jewish and that the Sabbath was not changed to Sunday in the Bible.
The proponents also claim that the Pope or Emperor Constantine did not change the Sabbath to Sunday. As far as I know the majority if not all do not say the Pope did! Resting on the Sabbath was outlawed in the council of Laodicea (A.D. 363-364) and no mention is made of the Pope and the history of this change is rock solid despite those deceived by Satan that would tell you otherwise. Did Constantine change the Sabbath to Sunday? Not on his own but he definitely played a very significant part. So who changed the Sabbath to Sunday? It was in fact changed by Satan, Constantine and the Catholic Church and a study of a large part of Biblical history reveals the full story and truth.
Some also quote Revelation 1:10 declaring Sunday as the Lord's Day but did you note that this verse does not so much as even hint of a day name. One has to look elsewhere in scripture for the answer to which day, which reveals that Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath day (Matthew 12:8) being the day that we call Saturday. The blood of Jesus sealed the New Covenant that Friday afternoon when Jesus cried out, “It is finished.” Once the New Covenant was sealed by the blood of Jesus, scripture states that it can no longer be changed. (Galatians 3:15; Hebrews 9:16-17) And yet an early church historian (Lucium) wrote that it was nearly 300 years after the cross that the Bishop of Rome decided to declare Sunday as the Lord's Day because some had changed to Sunday worship in Rome and Alexandria only, as a result of sun worship that was prevalent in these two areas.
Those devoting their time to attacking the Sabbath truth always seem to be attacking a Church known as Seventh day Adventists but what they do not seem to realize is that there are in fact over 530 different denominations of Sabbath Keeping Churches and the count is constantly growing as many continue to learn the truth. What is it that these Churches discovered that made them change back from Sunday to Saturday? New Testament Sabbath keeping decades after the cross as Jesus specifically said there would be is just one of many things they found.
Those that want to know who changed the Sabbath to Sunday and want the real truth should have no trouble identifying those trying to teach a lie. On the following page you are going to find exactly where the number 666 originated despite the multitudes of those speculating in the world who truly have no idea. Why isn't there more who know this truth? It is the same reason there are so many trying to convince us that either the Sabbath was changed to Sunday in the Bible, the Ten Commandments were nailed to the cross or just the Sabbath was nailed to the cross. And why are there so many different excuses? The wise and the truth seekers will know because they are all lies from our adversary!

Bible Facts about Sunday- (The First day of the week)
The very first thing recorded in the Bible is work done on Sunday, the first day of the week. Genesis 1:1-5. This was done by the Creator Himself. If God made the earth on Sunday, can it be wicked for us to work on Sunday?
God commands men to work upon the first day of the week. Exodus 20:8-11. Is it wrong to obey God?
By the express command of God, His holy people used the first day of the week as a common working day for 4,000 years, at least.
God Himself calls it a "working" day. Ezekiel 46:1.
God did not rest upon the Sunday( first day of the week)
He never blessed it.
Christ did not rest upon it.
Jesus was a carpenter (Mark 6:3), and worked at His trade until He was thirty years old. He kept the Sabbath and worked six days in the week, as all admit. Hence, He did many a hard day's work on Sunday.
The apostles worked upon it during the same time.
The apostles never rested upon it.
Christ never blessed it.
It has never been blessed by any divine authority.
It has never been sanctified.
No law was ever given to enforce the keeping of it, hence it is no transgression to work upon it. "Where no law is, there is no transgression." Romans 4:15. See also 1 John 3:4.
The New Testament nowhere forbids work to be done on it.
No penalty is provided for its violation.
No blessing is promised for its observance.
No regulation is given as to how it ought to be observed. Would this be so if the Lord wished us to keep it?
It is never called the Christian Sabbath.
It is never called the Sabbath day at all.
It is never called the Lord's day.
It is never called even a rest day.
No sacred title whatever is applied to it. Then why should we call it holy?
It is simply called "first day of the week."
Jesus never mentioned it in any way, never took its name upon His lips, so far as the record shows.
The word Sunday never occurs in the Bible at all.
Neither God, Christ, nor inspired men ever said one word in favor of Sunday as a holy day.
The first day of the week is mentioned only eight times in all the New Testament. Matthew 28:1; Mark 16:2,9; Luke 24:1; John 20:1,19; Acts 20:7; 1 Corinthians 16:2.
Six of these texts refer to the same first day of the week.
Paul directed the saints to look over their secular affairs on that day. 1 Corinthians 16:2.
In all the New Testament we have a record of only one religious meeting held upon that day, and even this was a night meeting. Acts 20:5-12.
There is not an implication that they ever held a meeting upon it before or after that.
It was not their custom to meet on that day.
There was no requirement to break bread on that day.
We have an account of only one instance in which it was done. Acts 20:7.
That was done in the night-after midnight. Acts 20:7-11. Jesus celebrated it on Thursday evening (Luke 22), and the disciples sometimes did it every day. Acts 2:42-46.
The Bible nowhere says that the first day of the week commemorates the resurrection of Christ. This is a tradition of men, which contradicts the law of God. Matthew 15:1-9. Baptism commemorates the burial and resurrection of Jesus. Romans 6:3-5.
Finally, the New Testament is totally silent with regard to any change of the Sabbath day or any sacredness for the first day.
Here are facts upon this question, showing conclusively that the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord in both the Old and New Testament.
You may now be asking yourself, is all of this important, does it really matter? Well, let me close with this verse. "Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city." Rev. 22:14.

One big Revelation
This scripture is truly revealing. Notice what God says?
Why would change the sabbath only to reinstate it later ?
Isaiah 66:22-24
+“As the new heavens and the new earth that I make will endure before me,” declares the Lord, “so will your name and descendants endure.
From one New Moon to another and from one Sabbath to another, all mankind will come and bow down before me,” says the Lord.
“And they will go out and look on the dead bodies of those who rebelled against me; the worms that eat them will not die, the fire that burns them will not be quenched, and they will be loathsome to all mankind.”
